Relief for Women in the Bedroom
by Nicole Vulcan

Having trouble having fun in the bedroom? You’re far from alone.

Women experience painful intercourse for a lot of different reasons, but there’s one big one.

“The most common reason for painful intercourse is vaginal dryness related to a decrease in female hormones around the time of menopause,” says Dr. Marcia Beshara, a physician specializing in Gynecology and Infertility at Rapid City Medical Center. Until now, the only options have been ones that involved hormones – but not anymore, says Dr. Beshara.

“Now the MonaLisa Touch vaginal laser therapy offers a non-hormonal, virtually painless, in-office treatment option for painful intercourse and vaginal dryness,” she says.

Hormonal treatments are not a method some women want to pursue – and others can’t use them because of a history of breast cancer, says Dr. Beshara. For these women, the MonaLisa Touch Laser is ideal. Roughly 80 to 85 percent of women see an improvement in their condition after the laser therapy, says Dr. Beshara. Typically, the side effects are minimal, and women can continue with their regular – and typically busy – lives right away. BHW
