Good timing is a well-known component of any successful outcome but it is oftentimes overlooked. Think about it, timing plays a role in nearly everything you can think of from the grand scale (meeting your spouse or conceiving a child) to the smallest level (cooking dinner or replacing the furnace filter). But when was the last time you really thought about your own personal approach to timing? Is it usually on your radar? If not, you aren’t alone. We all could be a little better at it.

Dan Millman, a former world-champion athlete and author, once said, “I learned that we can do anything, but we can’t do everything…at least not at the same time. So think of your priorities, not in terms of what activities you do, but when you do them. Timing is everything.” I respect this perspective. Bucket lists and to-do lists are talked about all the time but never the timing of them. I know a couple that worked hard all their life raising their children and padding their nest egg with the hope that one day they could travel the world. When the time came, they were at an age where they were beginning to have health problems and couldn’t do it. Yet, the timing wasn’t quite right when their children were young either. It’s always about finding that sweet spot, or more appropriately, that sweet time.

This issue, we bring the subject of timing to the forefront and discuss how it relates to so many things in life. Time is precious. We hope this issue helps you make the most of yours by encouraging you to ponder the art of good timing.
